Souvenir deck with photos depicting California in the early years of the 20th century. M. Rieder is the photographer and seems to have specialized in photos of California in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. In addition to the normal 52 cards, there is a joker, and another card with a laughing mule with a bit of a joke on it. These come in the original box, with some damage, as shown in the pictures. S17 CALIFORNIA SOUVENIER PLAYING CARDS, M. Rieder, 1907. This back has the Mission Bell in a brown frame flanked by poinsettias. The cards have Type C oval photo scenes which are the same as either S13 or S16. Dawson, Tom and Judy. Hochman Encyclopedia of American Playing Cards: Part 4 of 4 Parts .
