Deck of advertising cards, maker unknown but assumed to be published in the U.K., for William Grant & Sons, Ltd., makers of Scotch whisky for more than 100 years. These cards depict Grant’s advertisements for the years 1928-1940. Each card shows a Grant’s advertisement from that period. Even the terrific double-ended Joker is taken from a 1935 ad (i.e., the Tianus Price List?) The deck includes two cards that list the dates and sources of the ads depicted. The cards are slightly small, measuring 87mm x 56mm – a size that suggests that Carta Mundi may have been the maker of the cards. I believe that the proper geometric term for the shape of the box is parallelepiped. Four of the six surfaces are rectangles, but 2 of the surfaces (the sides) are rhomboid. It is the only card box of this shape that I have ever seen.
