students of Estonian Art Academy which is located in Tallinn -capital of Estonia. In 2015 we had a lot of projects connected with forests, so from that moment was born an idea called Arbores Playing Cards.
Arbores is a Latin word that means Tree. There was no difficulty to find the name for the deck, but since it was our first playing card project, at the beginning of the draft, we hadn’t good ideas for it.
Our friends Edwin Krys and Ailjay Boitchuk have an experience in this field so, they helped us with making photos and some PS and Ai work.
Now, after 8 months of hard work, we want to represent to you our finished project, which is designed for the playing card lovers, nature lovers and too ltd. playing cards collectors.
THE DECK
The dark green background brings out the silver ornaments on the tuck case. Only some parts of ornaments will be foiled, including text such as Arbores, Tuck sides, bottom and also some elements like birds. The fine detail of each hand drawn card is reminiscent of a hard working. Arbores will have a print run of 150 or more. Each deck will be numbered and this deck will never be re-printed.
