The Blankenburg Medieval Playing Cards are a classically styled deck of cards with medieval flair. The aces and pips of each suit have been designed with period intricacy and embellishment. Each face card features beautifully painted depictions of medieval personas. Card backs show off medieval scroll work emblazoned with the double headed eagle of the Holy Roman Empire, which is where the historic town of Blankenburg was located. What truly sets the Blankenburg deck apart is the novel theme to each suit. Instead of a standard king, queen, and jack, each suit has royalty focused on one facet of medieval life. Two Editions were printed, Linen and Smooth, however both editions have the same tuck. The only indicator of the difference is by a black dot. The smooth decks have a black dot on the shrink wrap on the back of the box by the tuck flap.
