Full Description

Hello! My name is James R. Eads and this is my fourth kickstarter campaign and I’m so glad you could be here with me. Kickstarter has allowed me to create card decks beyond my wildest dreams so it is very exciting to anticipate what may come with Green Glyphs.

This is a really special deck to me, while it might not be my first deck, there is something about Green Glyphs that feels very true to who I am as an artist and as a person. It came to me during the winter of 2018 when I was going through another bout of physical pain and searching for solace in magical arts. I was immediately drawn to the storytelling aspects that come with reading Lenormand and the qualities it shares with Tarot.

What is a Lenormand Deck? A Lenormand deck is different than a Tarot deck. Both can be used to do readings; Tarot helps to reveal your unconscious path and focuses on the mind, while Lenormand can tell a story, describe events and offer insight into people, places and timing. Lenormand is an oracle deck comprised of a set of 36 symbols that remains the same throughout all decks. Each card has carries it’s own importance in telling a story. You can read cards in pairs or triplets or in groups, but the real magic of Lenormand lies in reading all 36 cards together in what is called a Grand Tableau. It can be an exquisite tool for storytelling and will keep your creative wit fresh. This deck can be used beyond readings: it can be used to play the Game of Hope, to spark poetry or to play Green Glyphs Bingo.

The best part about Lenormand is that these symbols are intuitive and many of them you will already understand their meanings – SHIP, for example, represents a journey, an adventure or leaving home. And just as COFFIN will represent an ending, CHILD represents a beginning.

These days there are more and more Lenormand decks out there, but not a lot that I have connected with personally. And knowing I love the challenge of creating a deck of magical cards, I jumped right in.

What comes with Green Glyphs Lenormand? The deck itself is comprised of 40 cards printed on 350gsm soft touch matte paper. The cards are standard playing card size (2.5 x 3.5 inches). These cards feel amazing to the touch and the matte finish gives them that timeless appearance that I love.

The special feature of the deck is The Green Glyphs Guide – An 80 page full color guide (measuring 4 x 6.5 inches) meant to offer a brief introduction for reading your Lenormand deck. It includes an introduction that answers some of your burning questions about Lenormand and 40 pages of card meanings and example combinations followed by a section that details how to read a Grand Tableau and instructions on how to play The Game of Hope a multiplayer game that uses all 36 cards as a board game!
