ILLUMINATI – The Owl & The Knight Playing Cards are bavarian, esoteric, luxury decks, designed for the curious playing card enthusiasts, who appreciate fine art, the occult, mythology and arcane history.

On May 1st 1776 Johann Adam Weishaupt founded Der Illuminaten Orden in the Electorate of Bavaria. He adopted the name of Brother Spartacus within the order and established a documented connection with masonic guilds. Even encyclopedia references vary on the goal of the order, such as New Advent saying the Order was not egalitarian or democratic internally, but sought to promote the doctrines of equality and freedom throughout society; while others such as Collier’s have said the aim was to combat religion and foster rationalism in its place.
