There are 2 variations of the Composer deck; the main difference is in the card back design. Variation #1 has the violinist in profile and the attending woman full face; variation #2 has the violinist in full face looking down and the woman in profile. Variation #2 has the Thurston Moore copyright symbol, is marked as a US printing, and in general has sharper focus and is higher in quality. — The tuck box claims that this standard card deck features photographs of 54 major composers, but of course for those composers who lived before the invention of photography these are photographs of paintings of major composers. The jokers are Handel and Haydn; the aces are Wagner, Gershwin, Tchaikovsky and Liszt; kings are Mozart, Beethoven, Bach and Brahms. The deck itself carries little origin information; online sources give the production era as the 1970s; produced by the Thurston Moore Country Ltd. of Tennessee.
