Deck Details

Full Description

This premium deck of 52 full color playing cards features Hawaiian royalty. This limited collectors run entitled “The House of Kalakaua” represents the last dynasty and final monarchs of the Hawaiian Kingdom government before it was overthrown in the year 1893. The face cards include King David Kalakaua, Queen Lili’uokalani, and Crown Prince William Pitt Leleiōhoku. The Hawaiian Coat of Arms is the focal point on the aces, while the striking foil design on the back of the cards is a re-creation of a traditional design (seen on kapa and other things) by the late artist Michael Pechinski. It is reminiscent of the feathered capes, or ahu ʻula, that chiefs wore in ancient times. Isaac Kneubuhl of Diamond Head Playing Card Company grew up in Kula, Maui in a family of avid card players, which inspired him to create this beautiful deck. It is the perfect stocking stuffer or simple gift for any occasion. “This project represents a culmination of personal memories, a snapshot of a time in Hawaiian history, and a vision of what a true, premium deck of playing cards should be. I hope they bring you some of the same great experiences they have brought to me. Enjoy.” – Isaac Kneubuhl, Diamond Head Playing Card Co. Cards feature foiled tucks, foiled backs, and gilding.
