Morning on the Mohawk – New York Central Lines The New York Central Railroad (NYC) called the 4-8-2 type of steam locomotive the Mohawk type. The last engine was retired in 1955. From Wikipedia NYC joined Penn Central, then Conrail. Most of the former NYC is now CSX railroad.
